Sensational Sulawesi

We spent a couple of days to spend around Tentena and for the first day we checked out an Orchid reserve near Bancea on the western side of the fresh water, 35km long, Lake Poso. To start the day off we first visited a local market that sold fresh fruit, fish, bats and other things to eat. We then stopped at a roadside site where we found a large area of Nepenthes maxima's growing at an altitude of only 588m which is fairly low for that species.

At the Orchid reserve not much was flowering, but along a small beach area of Lake Poso we found several epiphytic orchids such as Trichoglottis rosea, a Taeniophyllum sp. and a sp. in flower.
